Reflections from Great Lakes Balboa Escape: Embracing Growth and Learning

I can't believe it's already midweek! Here I am, sitting by the beach in Mackinaw City, taking a moment during my lunch break to reflect on my recent experience at Great Lakes Balboa Escape (GLBE) in Chicago. Working with the sound of waves in the background feels like a luxury, and I can't help but feel grateful.

As I sit here, memories of this past weekend flood my mind. Attending GLBE was a transformative experience, particularly the teacher's track I participated in. The insights gained and the opportunity to teach a class under observation were invaluable. The support and knowledge shared by my peers left me feeling inspired and ready to take significant steps in my journey as a Balboa instructor.

However, the weekend also highlighted how much more I have to learn, especially in terms of technique and dance concepts. Competing alongside incredibly skilled dancers at GLBE was both humbling and motivating. I realize, now, the depth of learning and growth that competing will bring, as well as the invaluable connections made.

The instructors were incredibly supportive, and eager to share their teaching philosophies and enthusiasm for dance instruction. A private lesson provided much-needed guidance and a clear path for improvement through focused practice and drills. While some classes initially felt overwhelming and beyond my current capabilities, they provided a clear goal and vision of what I aspire to achieve as a dance instructor.

As I continue to bask in the sunshine and dodge seagulls, I'm filled with excitement for the journey ahead. There's so much more to learn, improve upon, and discover in the world of dance. GLBE has set the stage for my growth, and I look forward to embracing every step of this exhilarating journey.
